Whether you’re coming in to spend the day or to truly exploit your talent, you’ll find a blank canvas awaiting you where the world is your oyster. We opened our doors in 2000 and have been creating art and forming artists since.

At Cellblock 9 Artistry, we understand the importance of support in an artist’s life. Our community serves as an educational branch and support system for all artists who visit our Art Center by being a special place where their creative juices can flow freely. We’re dedicated to our artists, and we provide them with the appropriate training and tools they need to succeed. It’s our mission to ensure that the arts remain strong, and to offer classes to students of all levels - introducing newcomers to art and creativity, and refining the techniques of even the most veteran artists.

Pencil Drawing
Get your hands dirty with a fun and interactive Pencil Drawing class today. All students love Pencil Drawing and feel extremely accomplished after leaving. Class sizes are kept small in order to ensure each participant gets enough attention from the instructor. Pencil Drawing class is also a great way to mingle and meet other local artists in the San Francisco community.
Oil Painting
If you’re tired of working at home without improving, try your hand at this beginner class. Oil Painting is taught by a truly unbelievable artist who is here to help you become the artist you always dreamed of being. Oil Painting is great for all who want to get an all encompassing lesson about the art world.

Pencil Sketch
Pencil Sketch was created late last year in a weekly class. The artist took it home — but we think it belongs in a museum. The Pencil Sketch project was a huge accomplishment of one of our artists and we are so pleased that Sammy Jones created such a beautiful example. Want to find out more? Get in touch with us today.
Mixed Media Diorama
Mixed Media Diorama shows us that you don’t need to be a seasoned artist to create something amazing. We loved working on this Mixed Media Diorama project with Terry Smalls.
